Good food, decent service. It probably helped that we went there for lunch; I could see this place turning into a mad house at dinner time.

This place is awful. The food is below average and also had to wait over an hour for our food and they brought the appetizers and the food out at the same time. Also, asked for the manager and he/she just didnt come out. I do not recommend this place at all. I dont even want to give them one star, I would like to give them a .1 of a star.

This place is very casual and beachy. Service was good but it was a week might and not yet beach season. There wasva small bar and the layout looks like two rooms open to each other We sat on what looked like folding chairs but they were ok ther were approx. 30 tables all together. They had of course fish which we ordered a platter with scallops, crab legs, fish and shrimp The beach has been changing over the years. Many years ago nothing but fried everything. Not now here it can be broiled blackened or sautéed We also ordered the crab cake sandwich. Plenty of sides. I felt like it was a feast. I recommend this place.

Terrible experience. Can't believe we had to pay for plates of food not fit for my Dog. Flies. Depressed employees. Overpriced. Poor service. Don't fall for it.

If you want the feeling of being a local try duffy's. Great food but difficult to find something not deep fried on the menu... If you're looking to have a heart attack soon try the "pigskin shrimp". This is shrimp wrapped in bacon and then deep fried. They are good but I only had one just to say I had shrimp wrapped in bacon deep fried!! The oysters are fab ask for horseradish for them!! Awesome fish tacos!!

Had the crab dip, some peanuts, and plenty of beer. Dip was tasty. Staff was nice. TVs could be a bit bigger.

Four of us enjoyed a great lunch with fried pickles and tasty crab cake sandwiches served by a friendly, helpful staff.

I always try to eat at Duffy's on each beach trip. Great oysters, shimp, crablegs... The raw bar hour is a good deal if you can drag yourself off the beach in time to eat between 4-6pm. Probably like most places, it can get pretty crowded on popular days so be prepared to wait. And dont believe them if they tell you a 30 minute wait...it could easily be double that. The rum punch is great and you can get it in a fish bowl.

I came to Duffy Street Seafood Shack with a group of friends on August 25th, 2011, and I have to say, I was not impressed at all. I ordered a margarita on the rocks and a salad to start. The margarita was just a standard margarita, nothing special. My salad was good, but if I had known it came with bacon, I would have asked them to leave it off as there was way too much of it. After that, my meal went downhill. I ordered a shrimp po'boy sandwich for my entree. After a couple of bites, I had to stop eating. The shrimp had a fishy taste which indicates to me that it was past it's prime. The fries we just so-so and the hush puppies were hard and overcooked. Also, the sandwich was served with cocktail sauce. Typically a po'boy is served with remoulade sauce. A couple other shrimp eaters in our party complained of the same fishy flavor in their shrimp. Another member of our party had the blackened fish tacos, and had a similar experience. The fish was clearly past it's prime and had a nasty fishy flavor. Let me educate you, Duffy Street Seafood Shack: as someone who has eaten her fair share of seafood in her lifetime, fresh seafood should never taste "fishy." Sounds counter-intuitive, right? I would venture to guess that people who don't like seafood because it tastes fishy have never had extremely fresh seafood. If this had been my first experience with seafood I probably would be turned off for life. Thankfully I know what good seafood should taste like, and know where I can get it at home. As for the service, it was just ok. Nothing special. The food runner seemed to have an elevator that didn't go quite to the top floor. We came in for dinner fairly late and by the time our food came there were only one or two tables left. We were the only table without food, yet she could not figure out where to deliver the food and tried to give our meals to a table that had clearly already eaten. She had to go back to the kitchen and ask the server where the food belonged. Ha! Needless to say, if I am ever back in North Myrtle I will not be eating at Duffy's.

We eat here every year on our vacation. The food is good and it has old time seashore rustic kind of decor. It gets crowded so go early if you don't want to wait.

Steamed clams almost raw. Grouper tasted like catfish. Tiny shrimp. Very loud environment. Server was wonderful tho!

It's disheartening to say but this place is terrible. The 1st time I visited 4 or 5 years ago it was awesome. It was so good I came back that year 2 more times. Now I can't say anything good about the place. It is a dive bar in appearance which is fine. The food this year was bad. We ordered mostly fish po boys. They were terrible. Either it was cheap fish or piss poor cooking I couldn't just figure it out. 1 of the fish sandwiches still had bones in it. After we told the server she said she went back to the manager but she was on the phone.... Whatever at this point I just wanted to pay and LEAVE. None of the orders were right half of them actually came with hush puppy's and half of those were still raw in the middle. The service sucked. I was disappointed to say the least. That will be the LAST time I ever go back!!!!

We are visiting Myrtle Beach and went to Duffy's for lunch. The restaurant decor is what you'd expect for a joint that is across from the beach. Super casual and laid back. What struck us about the place when we walked in the door was that it was absolutely filthy. Tables were dirty and the floor had food and trash all over it. There was dirt or something piled up against the columns in the dining room and you could just tell that it had been a while since they swept. The food was kinda pricey. $39 lunch for two. The crab cake was good, but the entire lunch was ruined when we found a long blonde hair in the peanuts that were on the table. After I had eaten half of my oyster po-boy, I found a long blonde hair in that as well. The salad was mostly white chunky pieces of lettuce. It's apparent that they are a victim of their own success. Their great location across the street from the beach allows them to have a constant influx of new, unsuspecting customers and allows them to continue with bad food and general uncleanliness. The only reason that I did not give it just one star is that our waitress was very nice. Nevertheless, I'd avoid this tourist trap like the plague until some changes are made.

Delicious seafood at this fish camp! I had the crab cakes which were flavorful and actually made of crab! Light on the breading in a good way. My sister got the crap legs which were also great. Very satisfied only comment is that it was a little slow and backed up but the service was friendly and attentive. I highly recommend.

Fries under cooked and very greasy. All the food was just poor quality for all 6 in my family. Would have preferred McDonalds over this place.

Very loud and casual. Good seafood. Great key lime pie. Pretty short wait for a Friday night. Fair prices.

This place is a dive and not worth the high cost of each meal. We went there with our family and the service was excruciatingly slow. The hostess told us the place was very busy (only half of the restaurant was filled) and to have a bit of patience. The hostess wanted to take our drink order because our waitress was still working with a large group. After taking our drink order the bartender came by 15 minutes later to ask about our drinks again because the hostess couldn't get the order correct. The food was AWFUL. Everything came out cold. The appetizers tasted as if they sat in the batter too long, the crab legs were cold, the crab cakes were cold and tasted mostly of filling. The crab and corn soup was cold and had no crab. The chicken fingers were over fried. The atmosphere was typical of a beach restaurant - but it didn't feel clean. The bathroom was nasty and yes - COLD. At the end of the day - skip this place and spend your money elsewhere. There are too many other local restaurants to choose from. The worst restaurant I've ever been to.

This is a good little seafood joint located in North Myrtle Beach if you are staying in the area. The food took a little while to come out, but it was nice and fresh when it arrived. I ordered fried flounder and shrimp. The flounder was great, but the shrimp were too salty. The decor is nothing fancy...its just a place good enough for a quick bite to eat. 3 Stars!

My whole family enjoyed their meal here. I loved the Pirate's Broiled Seafood Combo that has Old Bay shrimp, scallops, fish and crab legs. Everything was cooked perfectly and delicious. Even my kid's chicken strips and accompanying honey mustard were awesome. Will come back!

This place was exactly what my friends and I were looking for. It was close to where we were staying and close to the beach so it was super convenient. It was packed when we showed up around dinner time and there were two large groups in front of us but our group of six was seated no more than 5 minutes later. We sat outside and enjoyed the nice weather but we were kind of around the side of the building and there wasn't too much room. Our table opted to get multiple things to share instead of each getting our own plate. We had calamari, crab legs, oysters, clams, mussels, shrimp, sausage, potatoes, corn, fried fish, etc. majority of it was pretty good. The least liked item at the table were the clams-those didn't get finished. The portions were big enough that everyone left full and it was pretty cheap when split 6 ways. It's a good deal and I recommend trying it.

Stopped for late lunch/early dinner. We staryef with raw oysters and steamed shrimp. Oysters were fresh, moist and clean. Shrimp were cooked right and spiced right. We then both ordered the fish Po'Boy with fresh cut fries and cole slaw. Slaw ws good, not oustanding. Fries were very good. Po'Boys were amazing. Fish was fresh, and perfectly cooked. Two large filets on each roll. I have had less fish served on a fish fry. Too bad there wad not a better selection of beer. Wife said she could not taste any alcohol in her rum runner but that it was tasty.

Was in NMB for the weekend, and decided to walk to dinner Sunday evening, around 7p. Found most places on Main St closed. Maybe it's different during the season. Anyway, it came down to a choice between Duffy Street, the pizza place across the street, or walk back and pick up the car and head out to US17 to find a place. Duffy Street won. It's an ok place. Large picnic tables, designed for parties of 8 or so. Roasted peanuts on the table for snacking. The menu consists mostly of "fried." It was loud, and the restaurant was about half-full. Service was average. I imagine this place can get hoppin' during the season (or spring break, which we narrowly avoided), it's not high-class dining by any stretch of the imagination, neither is it -quite- a divey seafood shack. I think the tab was just north of $60 for three adults crabcake sandwich, fried shrimp dinner, and seafood combo. One beer, one tea, no appetizers. "OK" sums it up nicely. I've had better food, and better value, but I've also had much, much worse.

  • George S.

Exactly what it says it is... A street shack! Go w/o expectations and you will be pleasantly surprised. The Buffalo shrimp are always a must get and usually worth taking back to the condo a couple nights with some cold beer!

A popular spot on Main Street, Duffy Street Seafood Shack is known for having bottomless baskets of peanuts. There's usually a lot of people sitting outside so my friends and I decided to check it out. We started with the Homemade Fried Vegetables, which were probably the highlight of the meal. The fried pickles, especially, were delicious. One friend had the the chicken and cheese wrap, which was decent. The rest of our food was sub-par. The steamed shrimp appeared to have not been cleaned properly, or even at all. The fried scallops was okay, but too oily. The crab cake was dry and flavorless. The fried oysters had a strange flavor and I would definitely not recommend them. The service was slow and all of the waiters seemed to be absent minded. Our waiter brought out some of the entrees before the appetizer, didn't bring cutlery, and we had to ask for water a few times. In addition, the table next to us had to ask three different waiters for a knife and it took them around 15 minutes to bring it. The redeeming factors are that they can issue separate checks and our waiter was nice. I wouldn't recommend this place. For the prices, you can get much better food. If you do come here, don't get the seafood.

  • T. Kyle S.

I found the restaurant to be mediocre. Enjoyed the shrimp but the flounder was poor. The atmosphere was loud. Service was good. One good note was the fact that they give you all the peanuts you want.

We stopped in for lunch at the recommendation of a friend. It's still early for big crowds, so we were able to have our choice of table. The place is decorated in typical MB seafood "shack" style, but was cool and clean. There is plenty to choose from on the menu and I saw some awesome specials for the dinner hour on a chalk board: $.35 shrimp, and $.60 oysters/clams. We ordered a combo platter and the oyster po'boy. There was plenty of food and it was fried just right. I asked to sub onion rings with my po'boy, which I highly recommend! They were sweet and crispy. I had enough (12+) oysters on my sandwich, I skipped the bread! My hubby had no complaints about the scallops or shrimp on his combo, but said subbing the fries for the old bay potatoes wasn't worth it. We will be back again! Just try the fried oysters and onion rings.

VERY casual/rustic decor.....get there early, it seems to be very busy nightly. Fried seafood is definitely their specialty. The "award winning" crabcakes with "lots of crab and just enough bread" on the menu is very misleading and anything but....don't order if you are expecting Maryland style.

Best divey sea food place I've ever been to. Super cheap raw bar happy hour. Basic beer and beachy cocktails. They fry pretty much everything. And you can throw the complimentary peanuts on the ground. Pour moi, these things add up to an exemplary gourmet experience.

for the money, just ok. first we called being vacationers, heat intense this week just wanted to make sure indoor seating with A/C because outward appearance lots of picnic tables which is OK if the sun is dow but a very high foot traffic area. they laughed when I asked about air conditioning. lady takes our name and apparently she tells everyone " 5-20 minutes".... after a very long 20 minutes, seated inside on what is Costco style plastic folding chairs and brown fold out tables that you should come prepared to clean again yourself. peanut shells all over floor, just the style but pretty sure mixed with food too after watching them bus the tables. extremely hot inside, mabe 4 ceiling fans working on one side of room. food was just ok for the price, much of it pretty greasy. server, Chase, was excellent. I think the health department would close them up personally. go to the Sea Merchant instead is my recommendation update: my gal pals reminded me our server was not named Chase...sorry. nevertheless he was excellent considering working conditions. I was the only one who had shrimp and grits, no one shared this dish with me nor did they have any of leftovers next day. low and behold a day after arriving home from vacation and about 4 days after having been here I became ill, very sore throat mostly. Well, about 3 days into this I see my doctor who ask the basic questions, "been out of town lately, eat out on your vacation?" yes to both and we surmised I most likely got my strep throat from eating out and I would venture to say from this restaurant because the other 4 people in the vacation for the entire week, we all share plates, enjoyed each others left overs all except this place....I sure hope they are not having the cooks work when they are ill, as I stated before, the place is pretty filthy but probably overlooked due to the nature of it's business, peanuts on floor, red baskets for everything, beachy

The reviews on this place made me hesitate, but the location was close to our hotel and we didn't want to drive. My food was excellent. I had the Stuffed Crabs Platter for $14.99, and I highly recommend it. The food was delicious, and the hush puppies were some of the best I've ever had. It's been a long time since I've had a good stuffed crab, too. We also had great service. The food was a bit pricey though, hence the four stars instead of five. The one thing I will say is that given this restaurant's proximity to the beach, this place gets really crowded. We went early at 4:30 pm on a Monday in July and had no problem being immediately seated. However, when we were finishing up, around 5:30 pm, the place was packed and there was a line out the door waiting. Definitely go early if you don't want to wait. There's also not a lot of seating for small groups. There were only two of us (at a four person table), but most tables were for large parties.

Don't be fooled by the folding chairs and tables when you walk in, this place is GOOOOD! My wife and two kids ate here, and upon arrival I could tell this was a place to enjoy good food and drinks in a laid back atmosphere. We ordered a pitcher if some local brew, and Calamari to start off. Great batter on the calamari, and the dipping sauce was outside the box and delicious. We decided to go light and split a low country boil as out entree. Piles of shrimp, crab legs, clams, oysters, sausage, potato, corn, and cornbread. That was a feast, and I definitely did not go light. The kids enjoyed themselves. Since the Atmosphere was bustling, and blues music was turned up a little, they did not have to be hushed constantly like some places we have eaten. They enjoyed the peanuts, and the burger they had was good. I really love when my expectations are exceeded, and this place far and above exceeded my expectations. We'll be back!

I have been coming to this location for several years, and have seen a dramatic decline in service and food quality. My family went for a dinner out this week while on vacation... But we all wished we didn't. The fried green tomato appetizer was tasty, but we didn't have plates to eat them off of. We used paper towels at the table, and our waiter came by twice without mentioning or noticing. No big deal... But our drinks came wayyyyy after we were done with our appetizer, about 35 minutes after we were seated. I ordered a shrimp platter, the fried shrimp were ok but the steamed shrimp (usually wonderful) had very little old bay seasoning. My meal was the best. My dad's fish tasted like it left the ocean quite some time ago. My mom got shrimp and grits and the onions were undercooked and the ingredients were not cooked together. Tasted like quick order food, not like a restaurant that takes pride in being a beach side tradition.

I had the steamed seafood pot with shrimp, oysters, crab legs, sausage, cornbread, slaw, and grilled sweet corn-simply divine!!! The rest of my party enjoyed steamed shrimp, calamari --we left full and very satisfied. Good service too!

When you are hungry, you'll eat almost anything. Such was the case at the Duffy Street Seafood Shack. Everything was fried, everything was greasy. If they could have found out how to deep fry our beverages ... I'm sure that they would have tried. The great saving grace? Very nice adult beverages. They make a good Rum Runner, just a little on the tart side, but good. After several of those, we kind of forgot about the greasy food, and the tartness cut through the grease.

  • Leah M.

Fried breaded shrimp and sweet potato fries were good, not awesome. Very casual, we sat outside at a picnic table. They allowed our group of 5 ladies to order from the kids menu, which was Plenty of food for lunch. This cut our price by about half. This was very much appreciated.

What a dive! Atmosphere is extremely casual. Greasy tables and plastic folding chairs. Peanuts on the table and shells all over the floor. The prices are a LITTLE more expensive than the average place, but the quality is excellent. This place is always full because the food and service is so good. Most of the menu items are fried. But if you are looking for steamed seafood, I highly recommend the pirate's platter. My husband and I shared it plus a dozen steamed oysters from the raw bar, and we were full. The tilapia is some of the best I've ever had, ever. I will say that I have had better crab legs elsewhere, and the alcoholic beverages are a little small. But I would go back again and recommend this place to others.

35cent cooked shrimp and $7.95 for a half pound of crab legs during happy hour, can't be beat. The medium to large size shrimp had some garlic and other seasonings on it which tasted really good. Since they're peel and eat, you will get messy, but they give you plenty of napkins. Only knock is the peanuts they put on the table for you to eat and throw the shells on the floor were stale. But hey, you're there for the shrimp and crab anyway. Definitely will be back everyday for happy hour.

We were very disappointed with our experience at Duffy's. The very average food did not come even close to making up for one of the worst service experiences of our lives. Our waitress was inattentive and immature, blaming everything on something that "was going wrong all night in the kitchen", which is not what you want to hear as a patron. She spilled a drink on our friend and didn't bring over extra napkins and tried to charge him for the drink. The spilled drink remained on the floor for over 10 minutes as other customers tried the walk around it and the piles of peanut shells covering the floor. We also received half of our meals, and had to request a menu to prove to her that our meals came with sides, all of which we were charged for. The crab legs were stringy with a rubbery shell, not fresh and lacked flavor. This establishment only survives because of its location.

Great Food. Had items from the raw bar which were all good. Place is casual so no need to dress up.

I've done both table service and bar service here, and have to say that if you're with adults and can help it, just go straight for the bar. The service is faster and my husband and I find the bar staff to be friendly. I *could* be just a little biased because my husband and I arrived for happy hour and ended up shutting down the restaurant on vodka lemonades (couldn't say how many), but I have always enjoyed their happy hour, especially the oysters and crab legs. The shrimp are also good, if kind of small. As for large plates, more of their plates come fried than I would like; however, I have nothing but good things to say about their fried fish. I wish I could say what kind of fish (something white), but as far as "fried fish" platters go, it was one of the best I ever tasted...very clean tasting. If I did have to make a complaint, it would be that I wish they were open later on summer nights. I know, they really cater to the "family" crowd, but when it came time to wrap it up I would have been more than willing to give them more money for a few more of those lemonades...

Worst meal I have ever had in Myrtle Beach. Food was gross, restaurant was gross, and prices were outrageous for such poor quality.Restaurant is empty during busy tourist season for good reasons: it is dreadful. Clearly this place survives by writing their own positive reviews and tricking tourists. Shameful.

    (1)
  • Jon W.

My friends and I walked into this place after leaving the beach. We enjoyed the free peanuts and the nice outdoor seating. However, the service was very slow. We order 18 shrimp and 12 raw oysters. The flavor was solid however, the shrimp had two good sized human hairs which was a major disappointment. Prices were fairly reasonable (.35 per shrimp) and (.60 per oyster or clam) so I'd be willing to go back but it's not for the faint of heart.

  • Kody D.

The interior needs a little work, the shrimp is so-so they could do a better job at cleaning them. The steak sandwich is rather good, how ever the coleslaw was horrible. The hush-puppies were burnt and tasteless. No where on the menu did it say what type of fish all it said was "fresh fish" I would like to know what I'm eating ie. cod, salmon, tuna and so on. The staff was nice

    (2)
  • Jay S.

Basically a dump with a great location. Food was subpar across the board from the fantail shrimp to the blackened fresh fish (no mention of what type of fish in the menu). We ordered a tank of rum punch which wasn't a punch at all, I think it was flavored soda with a splash of rum. We had 2 beers and the punch bowl, all in it was $120 for 4 adult meals and 2 kids that shared a kids meal. And the peanut shells on the floors do not add to the charm of this place. It's to bad because the area could really use a decent place within walking distance from the hotels.

I am torn about how many stars to give Duffy's. Let's say C-, so a bit less than three. Today was the SECOND time we had the pleasure of visiting Duffy's. Our experience was roughly thrice as displeasing as our previous encounter. However, I think that today may have been somewhat of a fluke. The hostess was anything but pleasant and we felt very uncomfortable and almost left. Ten minutes later, we were the tenth table inside, bumbling along waiting for our waitress. Some good things: Raw Bar Happy hour from 4 to 6, cheap crab legs, clams, oysters and shrimp. We came for CRAB. The crab was pretty good, sweet and delicious. SUCCULENT. We ordered a drink... a famous FISHBOWL. It came in a fishbowl, ok, was it alcoholic? NOT IN THE LEAST. I would say that a bowl is the equivalent of three drinks, in size ONLY. Let us estimate that in the bowl there was... a whopping five ounces of rum? BUST. I will not have that again. So... happy hour is good, if you don't mind not great service and trolling through discarded peanut shells and are in an ultimately low key mood then Duffy Street Seafood Shack should be fine for you. FINE. It's nice to support local things, so maybe stop in. Don't expect a luxurious experience. Expect average and your presumptions will be assumed. BONUS: Not a flea-ridden festering hellhole.

Went with my mom and niece. The food was just ok. Large portions. The best thing any of us had was the fried corn on the cob. It was awesome. Most everything else was forgettable, ice cream was down right horrible.

Passed this place several times last June when in North Myrtle, wanted to get a late dinner as we arrived so we dropped by. The appetizers were much better than the main course for me. Blackened Fish Bites (and accompanying sauce, Carolina BBQ Sauce with a kick) were great as were the Dozen Raw Oysters on Half Shell. The Pick 3 Platter, not so much! Fish was nice sized but very dry, fried oysters were bland and fried scallops were not notable. Maybe should have gotten a steamed bucket selection. I would give it another try as we did arrive late, an hour before closing, and I always try to give second chances and objective opinions on dining experiences. The atmosphere was fine and the Bud Light was ice cold!

It was Beach Week for Duke, and this was the first seafood restaurant that we hit up. The wait was pretty long for a Sunday evening but it made me think that the place must be coveted enough. When we got in, we walked on quite a few peanut shells and then I realized that those were from the buckets of peanuts given to every table. It was actually a bit hard for me to make myself "litter" like that but it actually made a lot of sense. The peanuts were just the right amount of salty. I ordered a two-item platter with my roommate that actually ended up being smaller than we had both expected. We got the fantail shrimp and the fried oysters. I thought the shrimp was excellent but that the oysters were not that great at all. The fries were very basic and the slaw was pretty decent. For how much it cost, I didn't think it was worth it. What ended up being quite worthwhile was the ice cream key lime daiquiri I ordered. Though it was $9, the immensity of the drink that came out did not have me complaining one bit. With a key lime pie, key lime ice cream, Bacardi rum, and several other ingredients, this was by far one of the best drinks I've had when I've been out. The ice cream overpowered the alcoholic taste of the rum, and the whole key lime-ness of the drink was fantastic. A wonderful drink - it saved the evening.

Oyster Po Boy is the best I've had at the beach so far. However, this past weekend when I got it there was only meat and bread. It usually comes with lettuce and tomato. The server overheard me mention that and offered to bring it out. For two sandwiches we got two pieces of lettuce and two tomatoes. I thought that was kind of cheap. Also asked if they had any kind of remoulade and the server said that had an aioli sauce. It was terrible. My sweet tea only had a couple ice cubes in it and didn't stay very cold. Just a few nit picky things. I've been there before and had impeccable service. Their fried oysters really are awesome, and the calamari and clam strips are good too. I've had a daiquiri there once, but they're like $6 which I thought was overpriced so I haven't gotten one since because there's nothing special about them.

A bit of a tourist trap. So so service the oyster po'boy had great oysters but needed sauce. Better for a night out with friends then with family. Service left a lot to be desired. Our server seemed uninterested and not very attentive. Next time we will get in the car and leave the area to find a better restaurant.

Can't beat Duffy's raw bar specials from 4 to 6 every afternoon. 30 cent shrimp, 60 cent clams and oysters, and a half bucket of snow crab for $7.95. Absolutely delicious and extremely fresh. Caution to the oysters - you must shuck, which really isn't all too difficult. A very low-key and comfortable atmosphere, no need to dress up or worry yourself with any sort of dining etiquette. Our waitress was very nice and always attentive. She even took time out to teach me how to shuck. Peanut shells go directly to the floor. Drinks are also very tasty - try one of the Rum Runners for just under four bucks. The entrees looked pretty delicious, too. My father got the shrimp po boy and my mom got the Shrimp and Grits and both were very pleased. A great place to take kids, too, because of the selection and decently priced menu. Definitely a local hotspot to check out away for the commercial strip.

Was looking for a seafood restaurant late in the evening. Found this in myrtle beach book. Pretty good seafood. Peanuts before meal a plus. Would go back.

The food was below average, especially for the area, and the service was unbelievably slow. It took over 40 minutes to get a couple of sandwiches, we thought this was going to be a great little gem... it turned out to be a huge disappointment.

I did not really like this seafood shack the first time I went-- I had a mix of their mussels and shellfish and I think that's probably just not to my taste. However, the next time I went, I had their fried green tomatoes, fried pickles, and their fish tacos. It was all SO delicious. The fried green tomatoes were not my favorite, but their fried pickles were just the right mixture of salty, sour, and crunchy goodness. Their fish tacos come in twos and were very flavorful. Each meal comes with a side and after wolfing down some pickles, hush puppies, and fish tacos, I was full to bursting. I had to bring the second taco home to reheat in the oven. The atmosphere is also very much like a sports bar, with games going on some of the televisions and peanut skins everywhere. The service was superb-- very fast and quick to respond to requests. One of my friends got some ribs though, and she said that they were not the best.

Meh describes it perfectly. I had my eye set on Duffy Street since our arrival to Myrtle Beach. The raw bar specials seemed to be pretty awesome but we missed the time and arried for dinner instead. Let me back up. I did have my eye on Duffy Street for the raw bar happy hour specials, however, we went to grab a fast lunch and when we walked in the place was quite filthy. I mean filthy. We ended up leaving and trying again for dinner. We avoided the inside and sat at a table outside. For some reason on the gorgeous day we were there people preferred the inside seating. Our waiter was pretty honest: he told us that the cole slaw was no longer homemade and to try the potato salad instead. He was also helpful when there was a minor BBQ sauce incident on a golf shirt and brought club soda quickly. I ordered the clams appetizer as my entree, my Fiancé ordered chicken and ribs combo. He dislikes seafood. The ribs were quite horrible. I mean horrible. They were cooked well though: fell of the bone. The flavor was pretty bland and we didn't eat more than what we sampled. The chicken was cooked but with no great flavor. As far as the clams are concerned: it isn't too much of a challenge to steam some clams so I was happy. Prices were a little expensive to be honest. I wouldn't recommend this establishment to anyone.

Food was good. Everyone in our party ate seafood and thought it was good. I don't eat seafood and was happy to find burgers on the menu. I ordered a kid's size burger. It was 1/4 lb and hand-made. I was surprised at how good it was. delicious! The kid's cheese burger came with fries and 3 hushpuppies. There were $5 margaritas with double shots. They were good - only downside was that you couldn't get the special if you wanted a frozen margarita. We enjoyed sitting out on the patio. It was a bit cramped. They had one too many tables out there so everyone was crammed in there. Servers were nice, food was served promptly. The hostess (forgot her name) was really great with my youngest and tried to keep him entertained a bit before he flnally drifted off to sleep in my arms during dinner. A great local place. I would recommend to others but would try some others places in the future too. So many great local places in NMB.

Even though arriving at the end of their happy hour specials she took ordered at those prices. Ordered raw oysters and steamed shrimp. Oysters were sweet and juicy excellent. Shrimp were perfectly cooked. Also ordered their special of blackened Mahi with blackened scallops and shrimp with a bernaise sauce, excellent. As an extra take the receipt back any time and get half off an appetizer.

Duffy's is very casual. In fact, peanut shells are on the floor and draft beer is served in a plastic cup. It can be loud at times too, but that was perfect with my 2 year old. That said, the food was very good. I ordered the shrimp & grits, which had sausage, onions, peppers, corn and cheese. My side was sweet potatoe fries. They were excellent. My wife ordered the fried shrimp platter, and she enjoyed it. Expect $15-25 for most platters, which seems a bit steep for the atmosphere. However, portion size and quality was good. I would eat here again and recommend this place to friends looking for casual seafood dining.

Went early around 5:30 for dinner so we had no problem getting seated quickly. The place was pretty busy but we got waited on right away. Lots of seafood/beach town atmosphere. The group had a mix of seafood, chicken, and burgers. Portions were very big and the food was pretty good but nothing spectacular. All in all a pretty good meal for the money, but I'm not sure we'll go back any time soon.

One day, I heard that Sergeant Slaughter was going to be at a minor league baseball game in Myrtle Beach. Sgt. Slaughter + baseball game = time to go to Myrtle Beach. So early last Saturday morning, I found myself on an airplane leaving Atlanta to go watch a baseball game, and hope to meet a man who wrestled professionally for a living and moonlighted as a G.I. Joe on the side. My brother picked me up, and unfortunately, due to his lack of foresight, we found ourselves lodged up in North Myrtle rather than anywhere remotely close to where the ballpark would be. But no matter, the good thing was that we were away from all the tourist crap, and it was at this point we found the Duffy Street on Main Street. The objective for lunch was simple - find a place where we can sit outside, and have some beer and seafood. And if that's the kind of similar criteria you're looking for, than this Duffy Street is a good choice. The decor is all rickety-wood and old feeling, but in the good, well-established way. We sat on one of the few picnic benches outside, and were promptly served our first round, as well as a huge basket of peanuts, which we wasted no time in shelling and discarding all over the sidewalks like slobs. I ordered a triple-option platter of shrimp, calamari, and fish. All fried. Welcome to the South. And it was all good, to my every-man standards. Good food, plus a great place to people watch made for a good time, and a good rating for such a simple yet quality dive. Parking is free, and the bathrooms are probably problematic at peak times, but no problem for me during a non-peak season trip. And a block from the beach, to walk off the booze.

Loved this little seafood place and actually went twice during my weekend stay for Beach Week. They have a great happy hour - shrimp, clams, oysters and crab legs all discounted. I got the clams and crab legs both times, and they were delicious. Some of the other dishes I tried: the cornbread was SO GOOD, the fried pickles were delicious, and my friends seemed to really enjoy the fried fish options and crab cake. The atmosphere was a great, casual atmosphere - we really liked the peanuts on the table and the great, beachy location. I will definitely be returning the next time I'm in myrtle for some great seafood.

Tourist Trap! Shrimp and Grits using tiny salad shrimp. Grouper special so overcooked and dry that 2 people in our party only tried 2 bites and threw rest away. Told server..didn't care..no manager talked to us. Took our money and waiting for next tourist, I guess.

Aside from the big ass cockroach sunbathing on the inside of the window, the food was delish. I ordered the softshell crab sandwich. It came with fries, hush puppies and coleslaw. All of which was delicious. The sandwich was supposed to come with lettuce, tomato and onion on the side but I didn't get mine. No worries. There is no dressing on the sandwich but I tried their Duffy sauce, fantastic on the sandwich. Personally I think the sauce tastes close to chic fila honey roasted bbq sauce. I had sweet tea with my lunch, it was actually sweet! My hubby ordered the pick two combo, he got froed oysters and broiled scallops. His meal also came with the three signature sides. The oysters were very good. Not to much breading and not too clumpy. The cocktail sauce was good with the oysters. The scallops were really good, no butter with them but still tasty. It is not too crowded for lunch. The food arrived in a timely manner, who doesn't enjoy hot food?! There is outdoor seating and inside is sit where you like. I would come here agsin the next time we visit. Oh yea, it was a short walk from our hotel and even shorter walk to the beach.

Very good food! Friendly service and a good manager. Shrimp & Grits Yum! Visited again last week very good Crab cakes. Kids enjoyed the peanuts! On a side note: some bitchy old ladies waiting outside tried to dampen our mood. But does not reflect on the place! Just made sure we did not sit by them.

Seafood Steam Pot!!! King Crab Legs, Shrimp, Oysters, Clams, Sausage, Potatoes, Corn, cornbread, and coleslaw. We liked it so much we ate here twice. Everything we ate was very good. Service was OK. Ambiance is picnic tables + peanut shells.

To make this review short and sweet, the Duffy Street Seafood Shack is only worthwhile if you go during the Raw Bar happy hour. Otherwise you will not get the best bang for your buck. The Raw Bar happy hour is from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. It consists of 5 small crab legs for $7.95, shrimp starting at $.35 per pop, and clams/oysters from $.65 a pop. If you go during the happy hour, you will definitely get enough food. If not you may leave hungry and have spent more money than you would've liked. With that said, the food was delicious and very fresh. I would recommend this place but only during the raw bar hours!

Spectacular food! And equally spectacular service in one of the most fun environments I've eaten in in some time. Allergy to peanuts / then don't even bother coming through the door. Go ahead - gorge yourself and top it off with the volcano dessert. Okay - lets just be honest. Service sucked end the food was inedible. Enough said!

Shack is accurate. This hole in the wall shack is coated in dirt and lined with peanut shells. It embodies the essence of a dirty beach restaurant so loud inside you can't hold a conversation let alone think. I should have known better but was not surprised to have an upset stomach after eating the shrimp platter. A friend at our table had the shrimp and grits and experienced the same sour belly. One star was for the friendly and attentive waiter.

I wish there was a rating between "Meh" and " A-OK". This visit resulted in mixed feelings. The food was very good as always. Duffy's does as good a job with seafood as anyone in the Grand Strand. I had the Shrimp Po'Boy with hushpuppies and fries. The shrimp was perfectly fried. The roll was good, but there was no sauce or anything else to marry the two. Fortunately I love tartar sauce and they gave me plenty of it. The shrimp was great, the Po'Boy sandwich uninspiring. I was inspired to eat all of the hush puppies however. My wife had their Cheeseburger and loved it. So overall the food was good as always. What turned me off was the B rating on the door. I almost didn't go in but SC considers a "B" to be "Acceptable". Hmmm. I guess my attention turned to cleanliness and there was evidence at our table that things weren't all that spiffy. Just kinda took the joy out of lunch. I love the Cherry Grove Duffy Street so I'll go over there next time. Despite the good food, happy hour food specials, and great Blues music, I don't think I'm coming back to the OD branch. It wasn't exactly "Meh" but it's definitely not "A- OK"

I wish I could give zero stars*******by far the worst service I have ever had, not only that but the food was served cold, there was a bug in my drink-- and took over an hour. Inside of the establishment was disgusting and I'm just glad I didn't get sick off of the meals and drinks served to us. I am shocked as to how this restaurant is still in Business

Great food! Worth every pound I just gained! All I can say is fried tomatoes, fried pickles, and shrimp and grits. I can say more but then I would have to mention the whole menu! Oh and let's not forget Nick our server- his southern hospitality and southern accent was the topping to our dinner. Like dessert.

.35 shrimp and 7.95 1/2 lb crab legs from 4-6pm... Can't beat it! I also had the low country boil. I was very impressed with this place. Good food, good drinks, & good times.

This place looks cool from the outside but the staff seriously needs to get their act together - can't give a review of the food because we ended up leaving before eating because the service was so terrible! Just getting seated was an undertaking so we didn't think they could handle actually cooking our dinner. We ended up driving to Calabash and had a wonderful meal :)

In town on vacation and wanted a quick lunch, sadly I did not get the quick part. The resturant was about 30% full when we got here and we had to wait 45 min for some fried food and a sandwhich. The fish po boy was a piece of fried fish on some bread, fish was good but as a sandwhich it screamed for fat and freshness of veggies. Girlfriend had a fried platter and the crab cake was good but lacked salt. Honestly the best part was throwing peanut shells on the floor and the French frys.

I read reviews and decided to try this place with my family. I wish I didn't! The shrimp po-boy is basically popcorn shrimp on day old buttered bread. The oyster po-boy was a joke as well. Coleslaw was runny and fries were cold. Honestly it's boxed food served up. If your looking for good food it's not here!

The location is right off the beach not too crowed and I'll agree with the other consumers it is a bit overpriced. The macho mucho nacho was excellent with a side of buffalo shrimp. The waitress was very nice and the scenery is very chill a nice spot to eat - and run right back to the beach.

Really solid seafood in an upbeat beachy atmosphere. Try the blackened fish tacos and a nice margarita after a afternoon at the beach. This is a very casual atmosphere with a roadhouse feel. The staff is super friendly and makes you feel right at home. My husband loves the raw bar as well. Lair outside, eat some peanuts while you wait for your meal and throw the shells on the floor. Great food and drink. We stop every time we are in town.

Casual atmosphere, inside or outside seating. Waitress was very friendly and attentive. We ordered appetizers and seafood mostly. Prices were fair, Generous portions, and good food. Each table has a bucket of peanuts on the table to enjoy. We arrived mid-afternoon and all the outdoor tables were full, and the inside dining area was completely empty. With no tables outside to accommodate us we sat inside where is was absolutely freezing. We were so cold it was honestly hard to thoroughly enjoy the restaurant and food. We did ask if the a/c could be turned down but weren't accommodated. Overall probably a 3.5 to 4 star rating. About what you might expect - nothing amazing stands out, but still above average food and service.

Expensive food-- not gonna lie. However, between Duffy's and the Taco shack down the street, I would gladly pay $17 for a delicious and large po boy. The happy hour deals are amazing, like 3.60 for a half dozen super fresh oysters, so be sure to go for those! Great service, good atmosphere, seafood that really hits the spot. My boyfriend didn't think it was that good though, and would only give it a 3 star rating.

Today Duffys lost a really good server. I was fired due to poor management I was not notified by any superior, just simply removed from the schedule. I really loved my job, and I respected ms. Brenda and ms. Kim they were the best to work for and they brought out the best in me as a server. I loved working with all of the college kids they were so respectful and fun and all have such promising futures and If they can survive Duffy street they will be amazing. I am asking all customers to please respect and tip your servers they work so hard and are not treated very well, I won't go into that here that will be for the courts to decide. Thank you nick and bill for a great education in how to treat a human being that works so hard for you

  • Mike W.

All I can say was this place was extremely average and very over-priced. I got fried green tomatoes, a dozen steamed oysters, and 2 beers and it ended up costing $30. The green tomatoes were flavorless and unseasoned although the sauce it came with was decent. The waitress was nice but forgot that I ordered oysters so I waited 15 minutes to get them while everyone was eating. The menu is the most confusing part about the place, the appetizers are on the last page, the fish is on the first, and they're misleading about the pricing. (For example they wrote: two dozen oysters $9.99 per dozen. Instead of just $19.98) If you're looking to spend a lot on just decent food, this is your place.

Was looking for a nice cozy seafood place while visiting Myrtle Beach. This place was exactly what we're looking for: very casual, close to the beach, and a nice under-the-sea atmosphere... Excellent seafood! Great menu selection! Try the calamari. If you're not a seafood person, they also have good burgers. Prices were affordable, service was spectacular, and I look forward to my next visit.

Oh my, what a wonderful dinner. We started with a couple of margaritas, mango and lime. They were well mixed, ice cold, and very sweet. If sweet drinks are your thing, these will get you where you are going. Then on the app, the waitress (Hannah)suggested blackened grill fins. They were amazing, fresh catch of the day Mahi mahi grilled to perfection and blacked with Cajun spices. Dinner was mahi mahi with shrimp and scallops in a beurr blanc sauce and potatoes with Cajun seasoning. Some of the best fish I've ever eaten. Hannah the waitress was great, she made suggestions and was very knowledgable about the menu. When you walk in, you maybe wary of the restaurant, but you will leave a believer.

This place really put a southern spin on some of the foods I've tasted elsewhere. Everything was 5 out of 5. And I normally hate everything. Ordered: Fried spear pickles (double battered) Hush puppies Shrimp quesadilla Corn bread Staff was 4 out for 5 all together.

This is my first time in Myrtle Beach and I am so glad I decided to give this place a try! Every day from 4-6 you can get $0.35 shrimp, $0.60 oysters and clams, and $7.95 crab legs! With prices like those I wasn't expecting the food to be that great, but I was so wrong! It was amazing!!! I had the crab legs, shrimp, fried corn on the cob, and red potatoes. Please give this place a try, you won't be disappointed!!

We stopped in (party of 2) for a late lunch last week - right off the beach and it wasn't very crowded, though we did see that it was VERY busy at dinner time! The drinks were good, Rum Runners for $3.50 or so for happy hour, and the food was decent. I was craving fried clam strips (I know, I know, but I just don't like the bellies!) and they were cooked to perfection - the hush puppies were yummy too. I had to go for the key lime pie & rum smoothie - though admittedly I was not expecting them to drop a PIECE OF PIE into the blender! It was super rich - could have had that as my meal! but it was delicious. They seemed to do a good happy hour business, with deals on shrimp and oysters. The service was okay - the girls seemed a bit distracted even though we were the only people in there - but it's early in the season! All in all, a good experience, we will be back!

This place is a dump! If you want cold food slow service and a staff that doesn't care this is the place for you! Weird that they have tables that are more like meeting table from a board room with fold up chairs... We watched other tables around us order eat and leave way before we got anything. When asked what the hold up was, it was blamed on the "Russian" kitchen staff... Hey here's an idea have the manager help cook! The ribs I ordered were cold when they came out, so back they went... When it was finally warm enough to eat it was like a salt lick.... Do yourself a favor take your money and go to the corner and throw it in the air. It will be better for your tummy and more entertaining!

Love Duffy Street. This is the first time we visited this location. Service was good, food was AMAZING!!! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the parking situation was really bad. It took us nearly 20 minutes of driving around the lot behind the restaurant before we were able to find a place to park.

My family & I have made Duffy's our "spot" for vacation ever since I was in high school. Went there recently when visiting Myrtle with my mom & boyfriend & holy cow. First of all, it took us about 40 minutes to get our food, and we had gotten there before it got REALLY crowded. The table behind us got their food & it was frozen. The man there asked to speak to the manager (a new manager I presume b/c he didn't look like the old one & had a ponytail), and said that their hush puppies were even cold. They didn't even ask for a refund or more food & left to go elsewhere, saying that they had been loyal customers too. We shrugged this off as a fluke. We ordered the fried veggie appetizer, I got my staple soft shell crab sandwich, and my boyfriend and mother got burgers. I observed a waitress bring out what looked to be our food to a table, and then took it back to the kitchen (I guess) when she realized that it was the wrong one. When our waitress came back out about 10 minutes later, she brought us our appetizer. I asked her if I was correct to say that I saw another waitress already try to bring out our entrees 10 minutes prior, & she said that I was right. Was that a f'ing joke? I was appalled that they were going to literally take ready-to-eat food BACK to the kitchen to sit there just so that we would get our appetizer first?! Our veggies on the appetizer were very, very poorly breaded (maybe like 1/3 breading) & cold and "floppy," not to mention the fried green tomatoes were as stiff as a board. I also shrugged this off, trying to give them a last chance because they had begun to get crowded. I asked the waitress to go ahead and bring out our food b/c to leave it in the kitchen would be ridiculous, so she did. My boyfriend and mother's food was cold, but they ate it anyways. But when I got through a few bites of my soft shell crab sandwich, I began to feel sick. It tasted WAY too fishy (slightly onion-y) & there was little to no meat in it (just the blue parts of the crab). I had ignored it until then. My mom said she could smell it from across the table & I quickly brought over the waitress. Duffy's got no more chances from me then. The waitress admitted she could even smell its fishy smell from where she was standing and went to take it back to the kitchen. Mind you, this ONLY happens from crab being frozen, thawed, frozen AGAIN, then thawed AGAIN & THEN cooked. The manager removed this from the order, but we never even got a formal apology. I literally cannot believe that is how they operate a kitchen. If you keep it up, you're surely going to make someone very sick.

Have eaten with them 100's of time but tonight was the last. Waited over 1 hr and 20 minutes for a simple order. We paid for our drinks and appetizers ($23) and told the manager we had to go. No discount for our troubles or even an apology. This was at the OD location downtown.

The good: wide variety of surf and turf menu items from shrimp and grits to ribeye, casual dining, and catering of large groups. The bad: relatively slow service, very LOUD indoor dining area, messy dining area and dirty bathroom. I would say this is an average vacation town seafood restaurant. Our service was extremely slow, however I could tell that this was just due to our server as the tables around us were moving along at an acceptable pace. Seafood tends to be on the pricey side no matter where you eat, but the steamed shrimp I ordered were a tad cooler than they should be and not easy to peal at all.

We have visited Duffy's over the past few years coming to N. Myrtle for vacation. It's always been a decent overall for food and service. Our recent visit to the restaurant will definitely be our last. We visited after the lunch rush around 2pm, where there were only about 5 tables full. We had our pup with us and with it being after the rush with most of their outdoors tables available we thought we could fine outdoors. They unfortunately made us aware that they do not allow pups for their outdoor seating...noted as an SC law...which I looked up and actually does not prohibit pets from sitting outdoors at restaurants, as long as they do not cause a potential to contaminate food, basically it's the choice of the establishment, etc. We didn't argue their right to not allow dogs though and decided to just place a take out order instead. It took about 15 minutes for us to be waited on at the bar (again they weren't busy), a woman who worked at another location was kind enough to atleast offer us a beer but noted she didn't have access to their POS system so could take down our order but someone else had to put it in. By the time the other woman came over to input order we were almost finished with our beers. Then after 30 minutes of waiting we checked on the ordered with the woman...who was running about the restaurant and she apologized and made us aware that the order ticket never printed back to the kitchen. I definitely understand mistakes happen but why didn't anyone check after even 20 minutes on the order...as again the restaurant was far from busy. After she realized our order had not transferred she input again and let us know it would be 5 minutes. She offered us another beer during our wait which was again kind. Unfortunately though it took another 20 minutes to get our food...which by this point we were not even that hungry and very upset/disappointed. The women who have us our order apologized again but honestly...with the restaurant again not being very busy, this was unacceptable. We finally left after about 2 hours from when we initially arrived. To top off our experience when we opened the food at home a piece of the French Fry bag was in our fries. Total turn off throughout our entire experience and we will no longer be giving them our business.

I went here for dinner on a Thursday while catching up with girlfriends on vacation. There was a twenty minute wait--- not bad! A neat place with delicious seafood that is worth the wait--- and there are peanuts to pass the time. The stuffed crab and clam strips are great. The hush puppies and crab cakes are absolutely fantastic. Staff was very friendly.

Holy Balls never loved crab so much. I've eaten there twice already since I've been here and i plan on going back at least 2 more times before i leave. Also, between 4pm-6pm they do 8$ 1/2 lbs of crab and $0.35 shrimp. This place kind of made my vacation.

Trying to get some good seafood as a respite from a pretty intense week my friends and I were expecting more. I had read some good reviews but this place just turned out to be so-so. I ordered shrimp and they weren't even de-veined or shelled. The daiquiris were also pretty average. Nothing too great to say about it.
